Zoo a-la-carte was cool

Rain, Edwardo's Stuffed Pizza (spinach), and Richard Marx, not a bad night at the zoo (last night). Lady dragged me kickin n screamin, but it was cool. Ol Rich still has a great voice. I haven't figured out how to upload(?) video clips yet otherwise you could hear for yourself.

Sancho's just too darn sweet!

My doc tells me I'm just too darn sweet. I guess a blood sugar level of over 300 is no good, go figure. So now I have to cut down on the fried rice and tortillas, you can shoot me now. Cripes, with all the kids I have do you realize just how many Birthday cakes I'll have to miss out on?!?!

You know your getting old...

When your daughter holds you close and says "dad, you used to be a hunk....what happened?" oy

Oh teacher.....teacher!

So tell me, during next years school referendum, will we find out if our kids matter more to you than your pension, or your healthcare non-payins? Do you think the "taxpayers alliance against everything" is against band for our kids, or against the bloated administrative budget? Hum....

you know your getting old when...

One of your daughters rubs her fingers over your head, and sighs heavily –“ Owwww, I’m going to miss your hairrrrr.” - Harrumph!

Halloween Peppers?

One of my Kiddos decides to carve a face into one of the peppers I’m getting ready to stuff. No dear, no need this time, the garlic alone will keep the Vampires away for now, yeesh.

"Interpolation"

What the snap is "Interpolation"? It's on my 4th graders math test, so I'll assume it has something to do with numbers. Geez am I feeling old again.

My fourth grade spelling champion

She's better than spell-check! (She helped me with the last post - I stink at spelling, just ask her.)

My Christmas wish

To all Jarheads - a good nights sleep, to all Vagrants - a brilliant idea, and to all little people - at least one good present, one good cookie, and one wish come true. God bless you all.

I....have been....offended

My two babies "Christmas" program lacked any reference to either Kwanzaa, Hanuka, or Kofi Annan. Nothin but good old fashioned Christmas songs. Just what are my public school tax dollars going towards anyway? I don't know what I'll do, or who I'll sue. (It was beautiful.)

Are you thankful? I am.

I’m thankful for…
- My fully paid for (and undeserved) reservation into His Kingdom.
- My loving (and rest assured – forgiving) wife.
- My little sweethearts (monkeys that they are).
- The freedom to call a Rino a Rino, a liberal a liberal, and a friend a friend.
- The men and women who protect that freedom.
- And finally, that turkey induced nap which I sure do hope is coming, WOO-HOO!!!

This from my 7th grader

"Hay! Hippie and commie make hypocrite!"........brings a tear to my eye.

You know you're getting old

When your kids remember more of your favorite oldies than you do.

You know you’re getting old…

When you mistake a dab of toothpaste for more gray in your mustache.

“Holy cow, he must be poor”

As I got up out of bed one morning, my son, who had just managed to slip in (surprise surprise) asks his mom “does dad have to go to work in the dark?” Lady says “yes he does.” Boy-oh says “holy cow, he must be poor!” …I still chuckle.

Okay, now I’m frightened.

One of my babies actually likes Pink Floyd. ARGH!!! (Don’t worry mom, she’s actually much smarter than I could ever hope to be.)

The "trades"

Why do guys grow up to be carpenters, electricians, plumbers, etc? So they can trade a few hours work for a few days hunting up at farmer John’s don’t-cha know.

Waukesha's Gifted and Talented program

I have a few kids in the “gifted and talented program (math, spelling, art) in the Waukesha public schools (did “public schools” give my view away already?) and so far I’m not impressed. It seems that for the most part what “extra direction” they do receive is “lame” (to quote one of the "chillins"). Instead of allowing their creative juices to flow, what they seem to be getting from the program is something out of the “teaching gifted kids for idiots” handbook. I’m not so sure that what these creative kids need is step by step instruction, as much as just time to just let themselves enjoy their talents.
