"Tent City"

I've lived in a "Tent City", what Trump offers up is not "Tent City". Actually what he's giving the losing team is a great chance to get their act together, if they could just stop whining.

What was done right?
-Winning team put their back into menial tasks
-Everyone seemed to give 110%
What was done wrong?
-Losing team’s leader seamed to give no clear direction.
-Losing team’s leader wasn’t aware of “weak links”.
Lesson for me to learn:
-Be more than willing to push a broom, swing a sledge, or push a dump cart when needed.
-Don’t be too into the whole “Boss” thang.
-Be aware of all workers talents, and help them utilize them.
-If the boss puts me into “Tent City”, stop the whining, and start planning the next time.

If you haven't guessed, I'm a fan of apprentice, even though I think Trump is a dweeb. Maybe next week I'll remember the team names! (Some fan huh?)

Two Heroes reminds me of "the former next president's" end of the world movie. I can't say that I agree with most of what Gore pushes, or with 99.99% of the "science" used. But I have to respect the willingness to stand up in the face of opposition and speak ones mind. Also I do think we need to be the kind of stewards of this blue planet we are called to be. John E goes to Katrina site for the perfect liberal “I’m for the poor folk” photo op, and it ticks me off that morons will buy into it and Johnny boy will take a large lead in the not yet started race for Pres. So what? These "morons" I'm talking about won't make the difference in such an important race, is that what you’re telling yourself? What about Doyle’s still being Gov.? What about Mayor Urkels non-partisan win in Waukesha? What about slick Willy winning over Lufter – he’s the more conservative? And what about bloggers, talk show hosts, and “independent” news orgs pandering and boot licking to the Republican money machine in the last election? Americans have been brought up (at home and at school) to believe that feeling good matters more than being right. That’s why liberals/centrists/moderates/non-partisan pinkos win. They know how to make the typical American voter feel good. Amazing how one picture in the Journal can set me off huh?

Its a matter of when in Waukesha, not if.

The recent events in Milwaukee cause me to look to Waukesha to see just what is being done to prevent such atrocities to humanity from occurring here, if such a thing is possible. I haven't seen much in the way of law enforcement towards gang prevention, my hope is that this is by design. That things are being done behind the scenes. But my heart sadly says no. Such programs require major funding, and I haven't seen many politicians on that front. I look toward Anselmo and La Casa De Esperanza for a glimmer of light. But all I see is a grant eating machine growing in size without much substance, a balloon of sorts. I look toward the Waukesha teen center, and I see one or two dedicated individuals breaking their backs, receiving help when its politically convenient for both church and politician. Everywhere I look I see dreams without flesh. I know this negative attitude is only because of my broken heart for the Milwaukee young, and my deepest fears for Waukesha's own. My tears have blurred my vision for their future, in frustration I strike out. The above mentioned are in the fight, while I stand aside. Their efforts deserve our thanks, yet also our scrutiny. It's our children they fight to protect, will we wait until the unthinkable happens in our city before we hold them accountable? The U.S. military is charged with our protection, and we demand their highest. And because we demand it, they proudly give it. The above mentioned are in the fight for our own, for our castaways, our lost, should we not demand their highest as well? Or shall we wait until the situation gets critical before we expect more? That's the political way, wait until the masses cry out, than act. Ultimately we as parents are responsible for our children. The marriage amendment is only a small part, and the above programs can only reach out to the ones on the cliffs edge. So far Waukesha isn't burdened by a parentless society. So far. It's the children on the "outside" I mourn for. The drug users, the truant, the fatherless (yes, even in Waukesha). It's them the "programs" are meant for. So lets act now before things go critical. To be sure, demanding the highest of the grant eaters isn't pretty or politically expedient. But it is necessary. I was there when La Casa was still on Ryan street, I've seen it's potential Anselmo. Waukesha needs a leader, not a politician.

-Has the Teen Center changed their answering machines message yet?

Apparently alot of snow related services that indirectly affect taxpayers has been "cut from the budget", like bulk snow removal generated from the city plows. "did I do that" can be heard in the city hall corridors. Thanks mayor Urkel.

Why can I still do donuts in my street?!?!?

It's been a week plus about 9 hours since the blizzard of 06, and my street is still a mess. The sad part is, my Alderman lives on the same street. (Snow storm must have knocked out his phone line.) Sooner or later he's going to have to figure out how to act like a city leader, push some buttons to get things done, and at least get his street plowed!

My "advice", keep the county job, this will prevent Doyle - oops I mean Dwyer- from appionting a boot lick to fill the 24th seat, and allow a real republican to take over come election time.

17% increase in water bill, CRIPES!!!

It sounds large, because it is large, especially when you’ve got a lot more than 1.5 children to care for! Who’s to blame for this increase? NO, not Mayor Urkel. I blame Opel and Lombardi. It was under their “leadership” that all meetings on the Radium issue were kept secret, and the problem was allowed to hit a critical stage before real work was begun. Oh, and by the way, this is only the tip of the iceberg for the radium issue.

No I will not quit (sorry, I can't seem to link todays Freemans "sound off" section) complaining about the Mayor. As long as I have a voice, and “the man” hasn’t’ shut me down, I will complain if and when I feel the need. When the powers that be manage to clip my wires in the name of a more “peaceful society”, than the complaining will end. Besides, isn’t it better to sound a cry of warning while you still can, than to mutter “I told you so” after the damage is done? So, the Mayor appears to be a liberal minded spend-aholic (cripes you can see the drool), and as long as I have access to the “return” button I’ll keep calling him that, thank you very much.

Our kids are worth the $

I keep hearing about the money being spent on getting rid of the teacher that downloaded porn on a school computer, and I have to say yes, it is worth the money to get rid of him. I just don’t understand the teacher’s union willingness to defend this guy. I mean we wouldn’t allow anything like that in our Waukesha schools would we? I mean if we knew that someone was..oh I don’t know.. let’s say caught in a hot tub with a bunch of teenage girls, or caught in a bathroom fondling some teen, we wouldn’t allow that type of person to have any type of contact with our teens even if he was “acquitted”, would we? I guess it would have to depend on what team he used to play for huh?

Why this years parade was OUTSTANDING!!!

1 -One of my own marched with the South Band, and I got to act like a hyperactive soccer mom and there was nothing she could do about it!
2 -No Mayoral appearance! (unless I just blacked him out- which is okay too)
3- The Business Districts “protest” parade! Well done!
4 -The South parents!!! I didn’t realize I was sitting in the “black shirts only” section until the Band marched by and the banner popped out. WELL DONE!
5 -The “craft fair” for the kiddies at the Waukesha Museum!
6 -The Racing Sausages! (But where the heck was Chorizo?)(Pronounced Cho-ree-so. Yes, roll the RRRRR)
7 -OH, and it was nice to see Lord Vador and Chewee still kicking it!

What’s the big deal?

Last week the county board voted to raise my property taxes, on average, about $42. So what’s the big deal? What’s $42? I’ll tell you what $42 is. Its two pair of shoes for my kids! Its two bags of groceries at Aldi’s! (Or ½ a bag at Pick n Save) Its one month of Naruto for the ol’ dad man and Sponge bob for the kiddos! It’s a house full of “Ponzo rattas” and fries on a Friday. Plus…. I thought republicans were against raising taxes, or is that only during the month before elections? (by the way, where was Slick Willy for this vote?)

Yesterdays problem child

I ran away from home one day. I don’t remember why, I just remember going. I lived on Beachwood back than, so the walk to the YMCA wasn’t a long one. Anyway when I got the “Y” I told someone (shepherd?) that I was running away, and asked if he could give me directions to phantom lake camp (I had just spent a week there). H was of course taken aback “you can’t run away to phantom” and I think he said something about calling someone, so I left. I had a feeling I might know the way, or at least I should be able get myself close, so I started walking. I made it as far as the corner of East and Broadway. (About two blocks) when a sheriff pulls up and asks me where I was going. “I’m running away to phantom lake” I tell him. He asked me if I knew how to get there, I said no, so he gave me a ride. When we got there, it wasn’t the way I had remembered it. There were no kids playing, no counselors doing their thing. Just empty “lodges” and a couple of grown ups. I remember talking with someone about making it on my own, that I thought I’d be okay, and I remember him telling me I could stay if “I earned my keep.” I said “I will”. Well, I didn’t quite know what “earn my keep” meant, but he soon began to show me. The work wasn’t brutal, it was just unending. By the end of the day. I found myself lying on a bunk, asking myself if this was what I really wanted. My spirit wasn’t broken, I was just hungry. So when the man from Phantom asked me if I really wanted to run away, I tiredly said “no, I want to go home”. I don’t remember how I got home, no one ever talked about it. I just remember the sheriff and the man from camp trying to teach me a lesson. I wonder what those hard nose, true blessing in disguise type of people that guided me that day must think of today’s “feelings are god” type of society. And if they ever realized that they touched at least one dumb kid’s precious life. Sometimes, our kids just need to learn a lesson.

Mr Harenda's little offensive is moving along swimmingly. It seems many recent committee meetings have been "canceled" due to a lack of, a lack of, well....basically because their simply a waste of time. (Dang, too bad huh Rinos?) I'm not sure who's pushing the button on that, but it's about time. Too bad Dwyer wasn't up for re-election yesterday huh?

As a Volkswagen full of clowns rambles down the highway, cries of “efficiency, efficiency!” can be heard from its half open windows. Than “In the name of efficiency we will cut back”. ; Now chants of “cut back, cut back” can be heard as the Volkswagen speeds merrily on down. Well, this goes on mile after mile after mile. Finally the Volkswagen pulls over, the window flies opens, and out goes the driver. “Hooray and Hazza, we are now efficient!” clamor all inside as the driverless Volkswagen sits idling on the side of the highway…..be careful what you wish for Harenda if Dwyer and his rhino clowns are left to decide the definition of “efficient”.

The Nov. election results were as follows. Doyle won, by a small margin. Van Hollen won, by a large margin. Kramer won, by a large margin. (We still don’t know where he is, we think he’s somewhere in Vegas.) The marriage amendment was passed, by a large margin. The death penalty failed, by a large margin. Sorry, no stock tips. (Dang!)

My wife and I ran into on old friend at the South Band concert (well done kiddos) last night. Turns out she teaches art in the Pewaukee public school system. Unfortunately she was laid off from teaching art at central. Why, why, why? Why can’t the board figure out a way to cut admin or healthcare costs instead of cutting teachers? Why do the “children suffer”? Because administrators and WEAC consider pensions more important than education. A common sense budget would get this taxpayers approval. I’m not against more spending, I’m against foolish spending.

How many days until the election?

Well, I’m still waiting for Green to work me into a “get out the vote” frenzy. “Anyone but Doyle” just isn’t cutting it. Yes mom, I will vote republican. I just I wish I’d be voting that way because I wanted to and not because I have to.

I've posted both Kramers' and Schmukis' sites on my "reads" list. Why? Yes, I'm republican. But I'm beholden to no one. Besides, the man (or woman) that fears knowledge fears life. If Kramer does lose, I blame the party for fronting a weak candidate.

Funny , but........

A friend of ours jokes that that offensive sign on 94 (westbound near old 164) depicts an elephant"crapping out the donkey". Funny, I still chuckle. But I had to respond "Maybe what's happening is the elephant is giving birth to new donkeys. Waukesha is turning". Well, no ones taken the blame - I mean - no ones taken credit for this yet, so I guess we'll have to wait to give final judgment.....NOT! I now judge it---RUDE!!!

"Myspace" madness

When I was a teen, we were encouraged to “express ourselves”. Either in writing, drawing, whatever. Creative thinking was something to be embraced. These days it seems that creative thinking is to be embraced only if it fits “PC” standards. Seems like kids are being raised by the system to be fearful of their own thoughts if it doesn’t fit the mandated norm. “Myspace” seems to allow their creative juices to flow. Yes mom, I know I know. There is such a thing as right and wrong, inappropriate thoughts, consequences for one’s actions, and parental guidance. (On that thought, are we watching what our kids post/watch?) But hear this, those are OUR lessens to teach as parents, Not the governments.

Teen center gem

Something for parents of budding artists, the Waukesha teen center has time set aside for artist (drawing/painting type) to “do their thang”. (If only the center would “fix” their answering machine recording) Wouldn’t it be cool if someone could set up a “math game” session, or spelling bee with candy (or whatever) as prizes? The Libraries got plenty of unused space.

I have a few kids in the “gifted and talented program (math, spelling, art) in the Waukesha public schools (did “public schools” give my view away already?) and so far I’m not impressed. It seems that for the most part what “extra direction” they do receive is “lame” (to quote one of the "chillins"). Instead of allowing their creative juices to flow, what they seem to be getting from the program is something out of the “teaching gifted kids for idiots” handbook. I’m not so sure that what these creative kids need is step by step instruction, as much as just time to just let themselves enjoy their talents.

And you wonder why the Hispanic community no longer trusts most of the republican leadership? All this "build a wall" campaign rhetoric does as far as most of the Hispanic community is concerned, is bring up bitter memories. Either of racists comments heard as a youth, or of mass deportations of our grandparents. Granted, the Hispanic conservative vote is a pretty small block, but it is that much more for the liberals to reap.

More on the "board efficiency" battle

Harenda is still working on the efficient government thing. Bringing up the issue at various meetings, with tepid response. The problem, as I see it, is the boards general fear of Dwyer. For the most part, everyone publicly agrees with Mr. Harenda, but there seems to be a “is Dwyer looking?” attitude from most. Well, Keith’s ground offensive is on, Dwyers’ weaknesses are being exposed, and eventually this thing will pass in some form or another. Who’s going to stand in the way of “efficiency” and risk their reelection? Will the “rhinos” hide their horns and help out on this?

How did this happen?

When did the city administrator take over? This all came up during Opals reign. To many it sure sounded like a good idea. But while many were excited about being able to have the mayor go to a part time position, few were talking about taxation without representation. (Except for us "extremists ") Okay, I now understand (thanks to my wife) that the council has final approval, but they can only work with whats presented.

Crass, sweet, rude, very nice, arrogant, polite, lost at times, prepared. These are various descriptions attributed to the candidates at the latest debate by the one I love. Can you guess which description applies to which candidate? No matter, these days elections aren’t won on issues, personalities, or even passion. The victory will go to the one who can draw the undecided voter. That’s done with money, and an “anything goes” attitude. Like I always say, do you want to play nice, or do you want to win?

Who's responsible? Who's to blame? Who's fault is this? Who's dumb idea was this? Who should we be calling "STUPID"?!?!?!?!?!
I'm told that there's more to come, that the intent of this insult should become clear soon. My question is is this how to win votes now? By openly insulting those that disagree with us? Granted theirs plenty of that in private conversations, but those are private for a reason. Is it okay now to insult openly? Well.....although it sure seems like it lately, I'll still call it wrong. My mom tought me that.

A large reason for Doyle winning

Doyle will win in November. The main reason? Green is not a leader. Here’s my explanation. I’m not much of a sports fan. I guess you could call me “undecided” as far as sports are concerned. When Holmgren left, I stopped watching the Packers. When Karl went away, I lost interest in the Bucks. When Garner disappeared, well, I never really watched the Brewers until one of my sons started playing little league. My point is, when a team is able to get a hard charging, spit flying, willing to stand alone if they have to type of leader, my interest is piqued. I get on the bandwagon. The problem with this race is that there isn’t’ that type of “leader” on this republican ticket. I wonder if the “undecided” voter (who will forevermore be the deciders in most elections) have a republican candidate they can get excited about? Do they, in this election, have a reason to get on the republicans bandwagon?

Kramer will win the 97th, but at what cost?

Kramer will win, but there’s no reason he should. I’m just not convinced that his being a Republican is good enough. Why haven’t we seen any flyers? Why no mailers? Why no radio ads? The easy excuse is that it’s too early in the race, the ugly truth is that there’s no money in the pot. Is Kramer’s camp “working on it”, or are they waiting for the party to come save the “Anointed”….again? Can the party afford to keep saving this guy? And when Kramer does go to Mad Town, who’ll be saving him from himself? Well, too late to start thinking about that now, someone signed that check, and it’ll soon be time to start paying up. Sadly I believe we’ll all find out sooner or later why I keep calling him “slick willy”.
As I post this, my wife is showing me Kramers latest mailing. I guess the republican "conduit" came through again....congratulations "slick"

New Berlins racist comments

I wanted to get this out before Sykes/Belling tell us what to think. As I read Buchers comments my initial response was "What the heck was that?" Why was Bucher defending the police when this moronic aldermen Gallagher was talking about minorities? After my wife calmed me down, I understood that he was addressing the police dept because that's who he represents. It's not his job to defend us minorities, it's ours....so where's Ensalmo? Where's the black response? I'm sure it's out there, I just haven't seen it. I've been busy this past week so I'm sure I'm missing alot. The fact that the aldermen from New Berlin is an idiot goes without saying (I enjoyed saying it anyway). I'm just saying that I haven't seen much from our supposed defenders, maybe they agree with what was said. Or maybe Ensalmo is "our leader" only when it comes to grant writing.

So who's going to be the candidate for a more efficient government? I realize that the county board is not in Schmuki's line of fire, but it would be funny if he got first dibs in Kramers yard. I can't help but laugh at the possibilities. I'm a naughty republican! DO OR DIE SEMPER FI Harenda!
