Racist, or just trying to be funny?

I wonder what he was thinking when James titled his post "send'em back where they came from" . I hope he was just trying to be 'edgy or maybe funny, either way I say he failed. Any other time I've ever heard sentences of that type it was from some dumb racist, and I've typically been outnumbered in those situations, but what the heck, sometimes you just have to go down swinging. Now don't get me wrong, I know it's not illegal to be racist, just like I know it's not illegal to talk stupid. Now I'm not saying James is a racist, I don't know his heart, I'm just saying "send'em back" ticks me off, I've heard that type of thing before and it usually didn't end well for anyone.

Subject to change brings up the Jude trials (lots of security by the way) and mentions that "those of us who live squeaky clean lifestyles have little need to fear a beating from law enforcement". The law of averages confirms it. However the odds start to slide against you if you find yourself in any of the following situations:

• you are on the Conservative side at an abortion protest - anyone remember Arreola?
• you are beautifully brown, with more than a handful of beautifully brown friends in a McDonald's parking lot in front of a rooky cop with little or no crowd management training - you may get the business end of a handgun 2" from your nose. (yea I know, loitering, failure to disperse and all that, we were just kids hanging out after the South football game for cryin out loud.)

Yup, Florida Sen. Mel Martinez (That’s Mar-teen-es, not Mar-tin-ez) And don’t forget to roll the “RRRRR”. ; I wonder, will he be a "blood and guts" type of leader, or will he prove to be another "lets play along to get along" mush mouth? Time will tell.

Give us a little credit, most Hispanics are pro-life, would rather our children learn to work hard v.s. beg, and dream of owning our own business. If the republicans would address us as a potential growing voting block (oh wait, we are a growing voting block) and not like potential illegals, they would reap the benefits. (Ask Green). I'm just trying to understand why Latinos would vote for democrats. Government cheese isn't that great.

Don’t get me wrong, Sensenbrenner and most Republican’s have handled this “illegal” issue like a bunch of morons but at least they don’t treat me like I’m a helpless idiot. They don’t need to, my wife takes care of that just fine thank you very much.

Hey Sensenbrenner, here’s a hint

Would you like to stop all the discontent in the Hispanic community? Talk directly to us. Believe it or not, we agree with keeping the borders secure. (“illegal” isn’t that hard to understand.) Also, stop treating us like we have to present three forms of I.D, our birth certificate and a “green card” just to get an audience. And when the heck is Anselmo going chime in on this?

And you wonder why the Hispanic community no longer trusts most of the republican leadership? All this "build a wall" campaign rhetoric does as far as most of the Hispanic community is concerned, is bring up bitter memories. Either of racists comments heard as a youth, or of mass deportations of our grandparents. Granted, the Hispanic conservative vote is a pretty small block, but it is that much more for the liberals to reap.

New Berlins racist comments

I wanted to get this out before Sykes/Belling tell us what to think. As I read Buchers comments my initial response was "What the heck was that?" Why was Bucher defending the police when this moronic aldermen Gallagher was talking about minorities? After my wife calmed me down, I understood that he was addressing the police dept because that's who he represents. It's not his job to defend us minorities, it's ours....so where's Ensalmo? Where's the black response? I'm sure it's out there, I just haven't seen it. I've been busy this past week so I'm sure I'm missing alot. The fact that the aldermen from New Berlin is an idiot goes without saying (I enjoyed saying it anyway). I'm just saying that I haven't seen much from our supposed defenders, maybe they agree with what was said. Or maybe Ensalmo is "our leader" only when it comes to grant writing.

Is Mr. Sensenbrenner a coward?

This weekend La Casa de Esperanza hosted a forum in which candidates for the congressional seat were able to meet the public. Mr Sensenbrenner chose not to attend. Many will say that he's a coward for choosing not to face his detractors. Many will say that they don't blame him for avoiding a potentially confrontational situation.
Two things. One, I try to teach my kids to stand up for what they believe in. I challenge them to defend their opinions. Whether I think they're right or wrong, if they believe in something - defend it, no matter what. Did Mr Sensinbrenner ever get that lesson? Two, I'm also aware that a wise warrior chooses his battles. My question is, does Mr Sensenbrenner see the Hispanic community as a potential voting block, one that deserves to be addressed in an honest, open manner. Or does he see us as the enemy, to be avoided? I can understand his thinking the later. No one enjoys walking into an angry crowd as a target. But I wonder if he missed a chance to show the Hispanic community that although he may not represent a view popular to us, he at least believes in his view enough to stand up for it. Those of us who agree with him (there's more than you know) would have liked to see him lead on this one instead of avoiding the confrontation. By the way. Bill Clinton showed everyone how it's done. Stand up and fight. Wrong and decieving as he may be, I'll bet the democrats got a charge from it. When will the Republican leaders charge us up?
